I would create a new media platform that is designated for college students only. The platform would require a valid student email and identification card to create an account. The platform would be a mixture of Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tinder. It would provide college students to network, hang out, and mingle. The platform would allow students from different colleges/ university to interact with one another and share their ideas on college majors, classes, career goals, and job opportunities. Aside from professional usage, it would also allow the users to upload personal pictures, videos, and messages. Other users may view these content and choose to connect with you. There will also be an option for users to select whether or not other individuals who are seeking a date can find you based on your interests, location, school, major, and other characteristics. This platform would provide college students unlimited access to a network with peers like themselves from other schools. Not only would it be beneficial to their professional life, it would also be useful to their personal and dating life. Since all biography information and picture has to be accurate, verified, and approved, it would be much safer than Facebook or Tinder.
With new media being completely digital and on the web, many privacy and confidentiality issues arise through these platforms. For example, there are many stalkers and criminals who create social media accounts with fake identities. Through these fake identities, they may pretend to be your colleagues, classmates, or friends. After you have accepted them into your connections, they will have access to your biography, photographs, videos, and posts. These criminals may sell this information to various buyers and your personal life would be exposed to the public. Oftentimes, you do not even know that you have been hacked or stalked until you find your personal information on websites you have never been on in your life. It becomes extremely dangerous to post private information that you do not want the public to know about. ReplyDeleteSo basically like Facebook but the way it was originally intended to be used? :p I think this is pretty close to how Facebook was supposed to stay, until Zuck decided that opening it up and having EVERYONE's personal information (instead of just college students info) was more fun .
