Blog: Wiki So Far

Unfortunately, I have not added any new contents to a wiki page yet. However, I have been looking at other students contributions to other wikis and have seen the amazing results to some of those pages. Some of them caught my attention and one on gaming particularly. I intend to focus my topic on new media and video gaming. I will be focusing on how new media and technology have shifted the way we play and watch video games. I will be looking up statistics on revenue and user growth as well as the number of live video game streamers and viewers. I will be adding ideas about how electronic gaming has changed the way people view gamers and why it is treated as a competitive sport now. I intend to incorporate parts of my term paper into the wiki to talk about gaming blockchain technology and how it has created opportunities to gaming and streaming companies.

  1. Hey Curtis, I was a big gamer back in prior to 2011. I been out of the gaming for some time now. I have heard and saw many new technology that are being incorporated in modern game creation. I would love to read the information you add to the wiki page and become more informed. Maybe it will influence me to get back into gaming again. Wish you all the best.

Blog: Social networking sites

There are hundreds of social networking sites on the web. All of these sites serve its own purpose and have its own unique features. Today I will be comparing Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Soundcloud. Facebook is the most popular and has the highest monthly active user count with over 1.6 billion active users in its social network. Facebook allows its users to create profiles, upload pictures, and videos, send messages, update statuses and stay connected with friends and families. I have a very positive impression of Facebook since it is my major source of digital communication. Over 90% of my texting is done via Facebook Messenger and the other 10% via Groupme and text. Facebook is a very user-friendly and useful platform. Users may use Facebook to plan events, spread awareness through advertisements, live stream events, and keep up with news happening around the world.  Twitter is another popular social media platform that many people would use. It has over 650 million...

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Virtual Worlds are where users can create, connect, and chat with others from around the world using voice and online interactions. In most Virtual Worlds memberships are free, but players use real money to exchange for virtual currencies, used to buy digital products. In "No Budget, No Boundaries: It's the Real You" Ruth La Ferla states that roughly 250,000 items are created daily by residents using a built-in modelling tool to construct 3-D objects to sell in the virtual marketplace such as the one in Second Life. These items include shoes, coats, furniture, and possibly anything you would normally buy from Amazon.Virtual Worlds have encouraged many users to become more creative. For example, Jonty Glaser, a partner in Stiletto Moody, a Second Life shoe brand have become a super successful entrepreneur through this Virtual Reality World. He has sold more than $1 million dollars since 2007 and has earned the nickname the "Jimmy Choo of Second Life." According t...
